Oil Paintings by Professional Artist Vincent Ball of Waltham Abbey, Essex, England
![]() Lake Windermere, The Lake District, England.I tried to be inventive with the palette here. With purple and a sense of distance with the boats. | ![]() PaulSOLD Oil on canvas - 20"x14" The parents of a good friend that I've known since I was five (Ian) commissioned me to paint their grandson back in 94. He's a bit taller now. | ![]() Gary NumanSOLD Oil on canvasboard - 16"x14" An old school friend of mine, Bev was sorting through her old memorabilia and found this oil painting I did of Gary Numan in 1981 when I was 15/16. I was quite chuffed when she had it signed by him in person when she met him. I haven't seen this painting for over 35 years. |

![]() The White FamilySOLD Oil on canvas 24"X18" I completed this painting in the 80's when I wasn't much older than Raquel (seen in the centre). They are a Waltham Abbey family which I have known for a long time as friends as well as customers. I recently designed the branding for the other two girls, Nicky and Becky's estate agents in the Abbey (Rainbow Estate Agents) now that they are older and have their own successful business. | ![]() Wanstead FlatsSOLD Oil on canvasboard 16"x12" I painted this picture for friend of mine, ken, who is a Christian. This is the view only feet away from his front door in East London. When he was searching for his house he believes he had a divine picture from God of a view to enable him to make his choice - this was it! I particularly like the contrast between concrete and countryside and if you look closely you can see the city of London in the distance. | ![]() Philpotts 91SOLD Oil on canvasboard 20"x16" Location: Waltham Abbey, Essex, England This piece of work marks a transition in my style. I had always painted in a slow, mechanical detailed style and this was my first ever piece of "loose" work which I completed in about 1.5 hours. Complete abandonment! |
![]() RabbitSOLD Oil on canvasboard 24"x20" This was my third oil painting I completed from when I started painting. The other two I have no reference to. I painted this back in 1979 when I was 13 and back then my aim was to paint as realistically as possible. It was a good discipline and taught my a lot even though it was just a copy of a calendar photograph. I sold it at the Salvation Army in Waltham Abbey, Essex. Some of the money went to charity and I was in the local paper. | ![]() Epping ForestSOLD Oil on canvasboard 20"x16" One thing I love about the summer is the spangled light on the forestry bed and the vibrancy of the greens. This is what I sought to achieve in this work. | ![]() Wormley Woods, Herts, EnglandPERSONAL COLLECTION Oil on canvasboard - 18"x16" I went out into the Woods on a lovely autumn day to paint this. Whilst doing so and completely entranced with my work and horse a rider jumped out from behind a tree about six foot away. I didn't half jump. |
![]() "The Word" Christian BookshopPERSONAL PROJECT AND GIFT Oil on canvas 30"x24" I love capturing local scenes and this was an inspiration to me since the shop belonged to Lea Valley Church, my church at the time. I remember three things that day. One - how hot it was, two, Prince Charles was visiting the Abbey that day and there were hoards of people visiting him and taking an interest in me, And three, a shopkeeper was following my progress and commented that my painting looked crap at first and now looked pretty good | ![]() Millie the WeimaranerSOLD Oil on canvas 20"x16" Millie sadly passed away and I was commissioned to paint her from my customers favourite photo to help maintain a fond memory. He loved it! | ![]() Philpotts Tea Rooms - Waltham AbbeySOLD Oil on canvasboard 16"x12" I love this "olde worlde" setting, only yards away from the Abbey Church. I was only half way through painting this and an enthusiastic passer by claimed it for themselves and bought it. |
![]() Neils GardenSOLD Oil on canvasboard 16"x12" Local business man, Neil commissioned me to paint his garden. and wow! what a garden it is. There were many viewpoints to consider but I think the gazebo made a nice feature. | ![]() The Kings Oak, High BeechSOLD Oil on canvasboard 20"x16" This place reminds me of years gone by before I committed to my Christian walk and the times I came home plastered from this place. Up in a clearing in Epping Forest this pub attracts visitors from all around, come winter and especially summer. | ![]() High Beech (next to the Tea Hut)PERSONAL PROJECT AND GIFT Oil on canvasboard 16"x12" When I ask locals where do they think this is, they always reply "mmm I know it but can't place it". It's actually feet away from a famous tea hut locally but in a different direction. Once again that dappled sunlight that I love so much. |
![]() DuncanSOLD Oil on canvasboard 20"x18" I am particularly proud on this work. A lot of my work is quite detailed and takes time in this piece I threw caution to the wind and painted with speed and spontaneity. I only took an hour to do this and I'm pleased with the result. | ![]() DadPERSONAL COLLECTION Oil on canvasboard 20"x16" This painting is very personal to me. I did it quite a number of years ago in the 90's when my dad was alive and it was when I was experimenting with my style. It hangs on my bedroom wall. | ![]() Canada 1SOLD Oil on canvas 36"x24" I know it's shameful but I actually don't know exactly where this is. I did it as a commission from a place mat photo and my customer was so pleased with it he decided to commission me for another "Canada 2". |
![]() Canada 2SOLD Oil on canvas 36"x24" I know it's shameful but I actually don't know exactly where this is. I did it as a commission from a place mat photo and my customer commissioned this because he was so pleased with "Canada 1". Which was my first painting for him. | ![]() ChloeSOLD Oil on canvasboard 16"x12" This painting was for a friend of mine from church as a Christmas present for her mum who had just lost Chloe. This was the second painting I had done for my friend who commissioned me to paint an en plein air piece called "Willingale Road, Loughton" which you can also see on this page. | ![]() Willingale Road, LoughtonSOLD Oil on canvasboard 16"x12" This was an exciting challenge as I was positioned on an island in the middle of the road to get this view. I got a fair few comments that day. This was the first of two pictures I painted for Lynne, the other "Chloe" which can be seen also on this page. This painting holds nostalgic memories for Lynne as she has lived in Loughton all her life and has childhood memories of this place. |
![]() Cornmill MeadowsSOLD Oil on canvasboard 30"x24" Location: Waltham Abbey, Essex, England. The aspect which inspired me for this piece of work was the colour of the trees in the background and the complete lushness of the countryside. I fished here many times as a small boy. | ![]() Abbey Church AlkydsSOLD Alkyds on canvasboard 20"x16" I included this painting in the "oil" section because I have only used alkyds once. This was the result. This was also the first time I did this view of the Abbey Church and it features my dad walking along the path. |
